Arrival & First Impressions

Arrive in Sri Lanka, clear immigration and collect your baggage. A Green Holiday Centre representative will meet you by name at the arrival lounge and escort you to your vehicle.

Drive to Kandy via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (if time permits) โ€” home to over 65 rescued and bred elephants since 1975. Best times to visit: feeding at 09:30โ€“10:00 & 13:30โ€“14:00, and bathing at the river 10:00โ€“10:30 & 14:00โ€“14:30.

Arrive in Kandy and spend the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, witness a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance performance.

City Tour of Kandy

After breakfast, explore the cultural heart of Sri Lanka.

Royal Botanical Gardens โ€” spanning 147 acres and established in 1374 as a royal pleasure garden, housing over 5,000 species of trees and plants. The Spice Garden and Orchid House are particularly popular.

Kandy City โ€” the hill capital of Sri Lanka and venue of the famous annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, Kandy is a living testament to Buddhist heritage, with temples, shrines, and monasteries at every turn.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic โ€” since the 4th century AD, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden in an Orissan princess's hair, this sacred relic has been Sri Lanka's most prized possession.

Into the Hill Country

After breakfast, drive towards Nuwara Eliya through misty mountains and cascading waterfalls.

En route, visit the Hanuman Temple at Ramboda โ€” steeped in Ramayana legend โ€” and the spectacular Ramboda Waterfall.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya and spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the crisp hill-country air.

Little England of Sri Lanka

After breakfast, visit a tea factory and plantation and discover how Ceylon tea is grown, processed, and packed.

Nuwara Eliya โ€” set against a dramatic backdrop of mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and rolling tea estates, this colonial hill town earns its nickname "Little England." Country cottages and Queen Anne-style mansions line its streets.

Visit Seetha Amman Temple, believed to mark the spot where Sita was held captive during the Ramayana. Explore Hakgala Botanical Garden (Ashok Vatika) โ€” the second-largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka. End the day with a peaceful stroll along Gregory Lake and through Victoria Park.

Coast Bound โ€” A Day of Leisure

After breakfast, make your way to the golden coast of Bentota for a relaxed beach day. If you missed Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage on Day 01, you can visit it en route today.

Arrive in Bentota and unwind by the sea.

Mangroves, Turtles & the City

After breakfast, visit a Sea Turtle Hatchery โ€” a conservation effort active since 1986 to protect rare sea turtle species from extinction.

Experience a mangrove boat ride on Madu River (Madu Ganga) โ€” a UNESCO-listed lagoon on Sri Lanka's southwest coast, home to hundreds of islands and some of the last pristine mangrove forests in the country.

Drive to Colombo for a city tour: cruise through tree-lined Cinnamon Gardens, visit Fort (the former British administrative centre), Sea Street in Pettah, the historic Dutch Church of Wolfendhal (1749), BMICH, Gangarama Temple, the Avukana Buddha replica, and Independence Square. Time for shopping too!
